I have not been on this blog in awhile. My ducks are now 6 months old, but I'll tell everything that happened to the ducks.
The crack in one of the eggs was huge. Every few seconds you would see a small beak come out of the egg. Now the eggs were constantly peeping. Suddenly the egg broke in half.
The first duckling hatched! When it hatched it was wet. We decided to name it Lucky. Before we went to bed I checked on Lucky one more time. The next morning I raced to the incubator. Lucky was all fluffy with down. My mom let me put her in the incubator. It felt wonderful to hold a duckling of my own. I carefully set Lucky down into the brooder.
If you don't know what a brooder is it is a place were you put ducklings after the incubator. To make a brooder you need a plastic storage container. You should put a wire surface at the bottom of it to prevent spradled legs. This is when the ducklings legs slide apart and they can't get up.You will also need a heat lamp to keep the ducks warm. For food you should use starter crumbs. If you have a water container you can put marbles in it so they don't drown. Over night a new duckling hatched. He got named Quackers. Lucky and Quackers were peeping to each other from the incubator and the brooder.
